Faux Silk Technique

This was the second card we made at my Faux Silk class earlier in the month. So pretty and feminine and cased (again) from Sally Williams.

Stamps: Field Flowers
Card: Pool Party, Sahara Sand, Whisper White
Ink: Pool Party, Tempting Turquoise, Old Olive
Accessories: White Bakers Twine, Whisper White Organza Ribbon, Tissue Paper
Tools: Big Shot, Finishing Touches Edgelits, Postage Stamp Punch, 1" Square Punch

By the time you read this, I will be on my way home from Apia and Tonga where I've spent the last five days. With the wonderful technology we have, I've been able to schedule this post (and the last few) ahead of time.

I hope you've had a great week and I'll be back on board - in real time, in the next few days.

I spied this little beauty some time ago in blog land and saved it to my CASE file. I finally got around to making it over the weekend and love the result. This will be one of the cards we'll be making at my Swallowtail class next month. Scroll down the page and see my classes on the left side of my blog. Email me to book your space, if you want to join in.

Stampin' Up! Chalk Talk

This is a quick and easy card that I cased from the talented Kimberly Diepen, from the USA. I love her creations and she always manages to make me smile with what she writes in her posts.

Stamps: Chalk Talk, Gingham Standard Wheel
Card: Whisper White, Basic Black, Primrose Petals
Ink: Primrose Petals, Silver Metallic Encore Pad (new product coming soon!)
Designer Paper: Modern Medley
Accessories: Paper Doily
Tools: Big Shot, Chalk Talk Framelits, 1 3/8" Circle Punch

I hope you had as much fun as I did this weekend! I met up with the ladies on Saturday and we were heads down crafting for the afternoon. I even managed to make three cards during this time, amongst all the laughter and story telling. It was a lovely way to spend the afternoon and I thoroughly recommend it!

I'll be back soon to share more creative goodness. Until then, have a fabulous week! :-)

Stampin' Up! The Open Sea

This was the masculine card we made at the last class I held. Sometimes all you need is a great image (or two), and a quick and easy technique to create a classy card. I can't claim credit for this one though. I cased it from the lovely Sally Williams. You can't see it in the photo, but I've used the technique Faux Silk. The talented Julie Davison has an awesome tutorial on how to do this. Check out Julie's blog here

Stamp set: The Open Sea, On Your Birthday (retired)
Card: Whisper White, Cajun Craze, Night of Navy
Ink: Cajun Craze, Night of Navy, Soft Suede
Accessories: Tissue Paper, Two Way Glue Pen

I've got a play date this afternoon, which I'm really looking forward to. We're going to be playing with new goodies from the Seasonal mini catalogue. Such fun! Be sure to pop back soon so I can show you what I've made. Have a wonderful weekend!

Oh, Hello Thank You Card

I made this cute little thank you card and thought it would make a perfect addition to my customer's orders this month. I've used the flower from the Oh Hello set and have coloured it using Stampin' Markers.  I've also used the gorgeous Delicate Designs embossing folder for the first time. It certainly won't be the last time I'll be using it - I think it makes a lovely addition. And, isn't the font for the message very elegant. This comes from the Blooming with Kindness set.

Stamp set: Oh Hello, Blooming with Kindness
Card: Whisper White, Raspberry Ripple
Ink: Gumball Green, Raspberry Ripple
Accessories: Gumball Green Stitched Satin Ribbon
Tools: Big Shot, Delicate Designs EF

I've had a very busy week just gone, and have been back and forth to Honiara a few times and a few other islands in the Pacific as well. It's been hectic but enjoyable! I also have Brett staying for a few days before he takes off to the States for 3½ weeks on a motorbike tour with some mates. They're travelling from Washington to Los Angeles and will be going through Death Valley and Route 66. I just hope the temperature drops a bit by the time they get there because Death Valley has been as high as 43° at times. You can just imagine how excited he is and how frazzled he might get!

Thanks for stopping by and hope to see you again soon.

Lovely as a Tree

It was my mother's partner's birthday last Saturday and this is the card I made. Nothing too difficult. I've used an old favourite set - Lovely as a Tree. This set is perfect for the mere males in your lives.

Stamp Set: Lovely as a Tree, En Francais, French Foliage, On Your Birthday (retired)
Card Stock: Early Espresso, More Mustard, Watercolour Paper
Ink: Early Espresso, Old Olive
Accessories: Jumbo Eyelet (retired)
Tools: Crop-a-Dile (retired), Distress Tool, Aqua Pen, Word Window Punch

We went out to dinner to celebrate Barry's birthday and had lots of laughs. We always enjoy ourselves when we get together and it made me realise how much I miss my family. I really should make the effort to visit more often. Of course, there's an added bonus of having my special friend Brett, who lives down that way too. We've been seeing each other for almost a year now and, what a wonderful whirlwind time it's been!

Have a happy weekend everyone and I hope to see you back here soon.

Thanks so much Callena (from NZSU) for choosing this card as Pic of the Week. It was a lovely surprise to arrive home to :-)
